The heat of the sun here in the Philippines is scourging in our skin and dehydration might happen when exposure to sunlight takes long. By drinking plenty of water, our body will be properly hydrated.

As a human being we are naturally frugivore, fruit is our food. One of the fruit suited in the summer is STAR FRUIT or BALIMBING. I search gogle, it was termed Carambola.This fruit is common in the Philippines. It just grow anywhere. From what I know it grows largely in the Southeast Asia.

It was called Star Fruit because when you cut it in the middle horizontally, star shape will appear. It is a refreshing fruit because it has water content and taste great. When still green, it tastes a bit sour. When ripe, it tastes apple like.

I remember when I was a kid, there were many Star Fruit trees in my home city Lucena, Quezon here in the Philippines. After eating lunch, together with a bunch of kids, we went to areas with plenty of tress to feel the freshness of the air and hide to heat of the sun. Our favorite spot was below the Star Fruit tree. Often, we got those ripe fruits and washed it with water and ate it. All of the kids were happy eating. It was very refreshing and the water content of the fruit satisfy our thirst. After we ate, we started to play and the afternoon was full of kid's laughs and shouts.

STAR FRUIT can also be used in cooking and as decoration to foods because of its star shape. It can be mixed with other fruits like water melon, mango and pineapples. It can be used to make juices and drinks. You can make smoothies with star fruit and mango.

The benefits of STAR FRUIT or BAMLIMBING to our body are the following;

1. Aids to prevent infection
2. Aids in weight loss
3. It helps in lowering down cholesterol
4. Treats High Blood pressure
5. It cures fever

With these benefits, even adults should enjoy eating this fruit. It's good for our body and it will makes us healthy.
